Harvesting and Herbs

Sunday, August 20, 2006
1 p.m – 4 p. m.
$10 per participant, max $50 per family

August is a special time at Crown Point.  Many of the herbs are ready for harvesting and drying for winter storage.  Learn how to harvest herbs for eating and dying and how to harvest a few of our heirloom vegetables in the youth gardens.  Explore the uses of herbs with a few simple and quick recipes for salt alternatives, seasoning, and more. Families will take home a bottle of herb vinegar and bundles of herbs to dry at home.

Wool Fun

Sunday, September 10, 2006
$15 per participant, max $50 per family
1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Fall is fast approaching with cool evenings.  Using the wool sheared in the spring family members learn how to prepare and spin wool into yarn.  This is a hands-on class where everyone can try a drop spindle to create some yarn and work with a simple weaving technique.
