Annual Organic Plant Sale

The Annual Organic Plant Sale is held every May at Crown Point Ecology Center.

Mark your calendars for May 15*, 16 & 17, 2015

Click here to get the list of crops and varieties to be sold at the 2014 sale!  Please note this list will change slightly in 2015.

Every year in May, on the weekend between Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, Crown Point holds the annual organic plant sale.  We are delighted to offer you an enormous variety of high quality, certified-organic plants, seeds, and supplies for your home garden.

Our sale features a diverse selection of vegetables, including heirloom and the finest hybrid varieties for your garden, all grown right at Crown Point, without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. You won’t find any GM (genetically-modified) plants at our sale! What you will find is helpful staff and volunteers, ready to make a suggestion or answer your gardening questions.

We feature Slow Food USA’s Ark of Taste heirloom breeds that are selected for their taste, beauty, and overall contribution to American cuisine and culture.   Additionally, we offer perennial native prairie flower seedlings which you won’t easily find anywhere else.

We offer over 230 varieties of vegetable, flower, and herb plants, including tomatoes, onions, leeks, sweet corn, sweet and hot peppers, summer and winter squash, eggplant, cucumbers, melons, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, lettuce, greens, celery, okra, tomatillos, husk cherries, artichokes, annual and perennial flowers, and herbs (including several types of basil)!

In addition to plants and seeds for sale on Saturday, food trucks featuring breakfast, lunch and snack items, vendors selling accessory garden items and workshops on gardening are held.

*Pre-sale event on Friday evening is only for Members of Crown Point Ecology Center.  Become a member today! Alternatively, you can become a Member at the pre-sale at the Membership table.  If you want the very first pick of the plants, don’t want to risk your favorite variety being sold out, or just want to avoid the crowds, we recommend coming to the Members’ pre-sale!

Following the sale, Crown Point is proud to donate leftover plants to not-for-profit gardens associated with schools, social service agencies, and community gardens located in low-income neighborhoods. If you are affiliated with an organization and would like to be put on the list to pick up leftovers, please contact Amy Cook, farm manager.
